MAG Offices, Saguaro Room
302 North 1st Avenue, 2nd Floor
The Maricopa Association of Governments (MAG) will conduct a public hearing on the Draft Fiscal Year 2018-2022 Transportation Improvement Program (listing of projects), Draft FY 2017 Transit Program of Projects, Working Draft FY 2018 Transit Program of Projects, and Draft 2040 Regional Transportation Plan. The purpose of the meeting is to receive public comments regarding these documents and the future of transportation in the MAG area. An informational open house will begin at 11:00 a.m. where participants can review displays and discuss planning efforts with staff. Formal presentations will begin at 11:30 a.m. followed by an opportunity for public comment. MAG’s public involvement process for developing the Transportation Improvement Program satisfies the public participation requirements for the Transit Program of Projects.
The draft documents are available for review at the MAG Offices, 302 N. 1st Avenue, Suite 300, Phoenix, AZ 85003, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Following is a linked list of documents:
Public comments are welcomed at the hearing or may be submitted in writing via e-mail or direct mail by 5:00 p.m., March 30, 2017. Comments received will be submitted to MAG policy committees for review and consideration. For disability or special accommodations, or to submit comments, contact Leila Gamiz, (602) 254-6300, by email at this link; or mail to 302 N. 1st Ave., Ste. 200, Phoenix, AZ 85003.
The performance-based Regional Transportation Plan (RTP) provides a broad vision for the regional transportation system for the next two decades, addressing freeways and other highways, streets, transit, airports, bicycle and pedestrian facilities, freight, demand management, system management including intelligent transportation systems (ITS), and safety. The Regional Transportation Plan - Final, 11/25/03, was the result of a major planning effort initiated in 2001 and completed in late 2003, when it received unanimous support from the Transportation Policy Committee and approval from the MAG Regional Council. It has also passed the federally-required air quality conformity tests. Since that time, updates to the plan have been prepared. A Draft 2040 Regional Transportation plan and Executive Summary were approved by the MAG Regional Council in January, 2014 and are now available on-line.
A schedule or "program" for specific projects being implemented (undergoing design, right of way acquisition and/or construction, or capital acquisitions for transit) in the next three to five years is provided in the separately-bound MAG Transportation Improvement Program (TIP).
