Garrett Newland joined Macerich in 2005, where he manages regional retail development and redevelopment projects in the company's Greater Phoenix region. He has more than 20 years experience in real estate, economic development and project management in Arizona and New Mexico. Among the projects Mr. Newland leads are SanTan Village, a new super regional retail destination in Gilbert, Ariz., and planned super regional projects at Prasada in Surprise, Ariz, and Estrella Falls in Goodyear, Ariz.

Prior to joining Macerich, Garrett served as Economic Development Director for the City of Chandler, Arizona and as Vice President of Business Development for the Greater Phoenix Economic Council.

Mr. Newland is an active member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) and Valley Partnership, and serves on the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors for the East Valley Partnership (currently as Treasurer). He was recently appointed to the Transportation Policy Committee at the Maricopa Association of Governments (MAG), and is Past President of the Board of the Arizona Association for Economic Development. Mr. Newland holds Master of Business Administration and Bachelor of Arts in Government degrees from New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, N.M.
